Marketing Executive – Kandy

Job Description: Marketing Executive – Kandy

We are looking for a practical and detail-oriented Marketing Executive to join our team in Kandy. This role is for someone who understands the basics of marketing—who can plan, organize, and carry out straightforward promotional activities to support the company’s goals. You don’t need to be flashy or come up with vague “game-changing” campaigns. What we need is someone who can work with clear objectives, use the right tools, and produce measurable outcomes.

This is a full-time role that involves day-to-day coordination of marketing tasks, contributing to both traditional and digital efforts. The right candidate will bring structure, consistency, and practical thinking to the table. If you have a solid understanding of how marketing works in a real-world business setting, this role offers a steady opportunity to grow and deliver results.

Position Summary

The Marketing Executive will assist in planning and executing marketing strategies to promote the company’s products or services. The role requires someone with an eye for detail, a good grasp of basic marketing tools (such as email campaigns, social media, and printed materials), and the ability to organize and follow through on tasks.

You’ll be expected to work closely with other departments, vendors, and creative teams to ensure campaigns are implemented smoothly. This job is not about overpromising or hype—it’s about putting in the work, making sure the details are right, and evaluating whether the marketing effort delivered what it was supposed to.

Key Responsibilities

1. Marketing Planning & Coordination

  • Assist in developing and implementing short-term marketing campaigns based on business needs.
  • Coordinate campaign timelines, deliverables, and follow-up activities.
  • Maintain calendars for promotions, social media posts, and events.

2. Digital Marketing

  • Manage company social media pages (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.) with regular posts and updates.
  • Support basic paid ad campaigns, monitor results, and make adjustments as needed.
  • Update website content and track performance through basic analytics.
  • Coordinate with digital agencies or freelancers when external support is needed.

3. Content Development

  • Draft clear and accurate written content for flyers, emails, websites, and advertisements.
  • Ensure all content follows company guidelines and reflects the right tone.
  • Edit or review basic designs and images for quality and relevance.

4. Event and Promotion Support

  • Help plan and execute promotional events or trade shows.
  • Prepare event materials, signage, and displays.
  • Attend events when needed to represent the brand or gather feedback from customers.

5. Print and POS Material Handling

  • Liaise with printing suppliers and vendors to develop brochures, signage, and packaging materials.
  • Monitor stock levels of printed materials and reorder when needed.
  • Organize proper distribution of materials across branches or partner locations.

6. Market Research and Competitor Tracking

  • Gather data about customer preferences, buying habits, and local market trends.
  • Monitor competitor campaigns and provide practical summaries.
  • Use findings to support planning of future campaigns.

7. Reporting and Administration

  • Track the results of campaigns and promotions and prepare basic reports.
  • Record marketing expenses and submit reports for monthly review.
  • File all marketing materials and documentation in an organized way.

Required Qualifications

  • Degree or diploma in Marketing, Business, or a related field.
  • At least 1–2 years of practical marketing experience.
  • Familiarity with digital platforms such as Facebook Business Suite, Instagram, and email marketing tools.
  • Good understanding of MS Office (especially Excel and PowerPoint).
  • Comfortable working with designers, printers, and media suppliers.
  • Strong writing and basic editing skills (English and Sinhala/Tamil).
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and keep track of deadlines.

Preferred Attributes

  • Honest, responsible, and organized in your work approach.
  • Strong attention to detail—especially when handling content, visuals, and campaign timelines.
  • Comfortable working independently once given clear instructions.
  • Willing to ask questions or seek clarification rather than guess or delay a task.
  • Interested in how marketing efforts connect to sales and customer needs—not just trends.

Work Conditions

This is an in-office role based in Kandy. You may need to travel locally for events, branch visits, or supplier meetings. Working hours are typically Monday to Friday, with occasional weekend duties during campaigns or promotions.

You will report to the Head of Marketing or a senior marketing supervisor and will work as part of a small but focused team. You’ll have access to basic tools and platforms required for marketing work, but you’re also expected to be resourceful and practical in getting things done.

What We Expect From You

We do not need a “marketing rockstar.” We need someone dependable who gets the work done and follows through on details. This role suits someone who believes in planning ahead, writing clearly, and fixing errors before things go public. We don’t expect you to have all the answers on day one, but you must be willing to learn and improve consistently.

This is not a high-profile creative director role. It’s about doing the groundwork that marketing relies on—posting updates regularly, proofreading content, coordinating with vendors, and tracking results in Excel. If you’re okay with that and enjoy building things from the ground up, you’ll be a strong fit.

What You Can Expect From Us

  • A structured working environment where expectations are clear.
  • Supportive leadership that values reliability over flashy presentations.
  • On-the-job learning opportunities to grow your marketing skills.
  • A fair workload and respect for your time.
  • Recognition for consistent work, not just one-off achievements.

Who Should Apply

You should apply if:

  • You’re looking for a steady marketing role in a practical work setting.
  • You care about getting the details right and improving your skills over time.
  • You’re more interested in execution and results than trends or gimmicks.
  • You’re based in or willing to relocate to Kandy.
  • You value clear instructions and honest feedback.

Application Process

To apply, please send:

  • A current CV with your education and work experience.
  • A short cover letter explaining why you’re interested and how you approach marketing work.
  • Links to any social media pages, websites, or campaigns you’ve worked on (if available).

Shortlisted candidates will be contacted for an interview. You may be asked to complete a short task or submit a writing sample during the selection process.

We believe marketing should be honest, useful, and well-organized. If you’re someone who values clarity over clutter and execution over empty talk, we would be glad to work with you. This is a great role for someone looking to develop a real marketing career—one task at a time.

If this sounds like the kind of job you’ve been looking for, we encourage you to apply.
