Job Description: Machine Operator – Jaffna

We are looking for a dependable and focused Machine Operator to join our manufacturing team in Jaffna. This role is essential to our daily production processes. You will be responsible for operating, monitoring, and maintaining various industrial machines that contribute to the production of goods.

This position suits someone who takes responsibility for their tasks, works well with machines, and understands the importance of following instructions accurately and consistently. Prior experience in a factory setting will be helpful, but we are also open to training capable individuals who show commitment and a good work ethic.

Position Summary:

The Machine Operator plays a hands-on role in ensuring the smooth and efficient running of production equipment. You will be expected to set up machines, inspect raw materials, monitor operations, and perform basic troubleshooting. The role also includes maintaining a clean and safe work area, complying with operational standards, and reporting any malfunctions immediately.

This is a shift-based role that requires alertness, patience, and the ability to stay on task for extended periods. You’ll be part of a small team that supports each other to meet daily production targets.

Key Responsibilities:

Set up machines according to production schedules and specific instructions.
Start, operate, and monitor assigned machinery to ensure proper function throughout the production cycle.
Perform routine checks on machinery before and after use.
Feed raw materials into machines and ensure continuous supply during production.
Inspect final products for defects and sort or discard those that do not meet quality standards.
Record production quantities, operational issues, and any downtime accurately.
Follow safety and hygiene regulations strictly, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
Clean machinery and work areas after shifts and ensure proper handover to the next operator.
Report mechanical faults, equipment damage, or unusual noises promptly to maintenance staff or supervisors.
Assist maintenance personnel during machine repair or scheduled servicing.
Adhere to production timelines and report any delays or bottlenecks in a timely manner.
Support co-workers when needed, especially during high-volume operations or shift handovers.
Comply with standard operating procedures (SOPs) and all relevant factory guidelines.

Required Qualifications:

G.C.E. Ordinary Level (O/L) pass in Mathematics and English.
Basic mechanical understanding and ability to follow written instructions.
Previous work experience in a production facility or machine operation (minimum 6 months) is preferred, but not mandatory.
Ability to understand safety procedures and work according to operational protocols.
Good eyesight, physical fitness, and manual dexterity.
Ability to work on feet for long periods and handle minor physical labor.
Willingness to work in shifts, including early mornings, nights, weekends, or holidays if required.

Shift-based scheduling, which may include day, night, and weekend shifts depending on production demand.
Proper training provided before assignment to machinery.
Regular breaks scheduled as per labour standards and company policies.
