Job description – Tech Lead

The Role: Tech Lead (Abu Dhabi, On-Site) We re looking for a Tech Lead to join Tavily and establish our new office in Abu Dhabi. You ll lead a growing team of around 12 technical professionals and play a central role in building the foundation for Tavily s operations in the region. This is a high-impact leadership role for someone with deep technical expertise and proven management experience who thrives in fast-paced, high-ownership environments. What You ll Do Lead and mentor a diverse technical team, ensuring excellence and collaboration Build processes and systems that enable the team to scale efficiently and deliver high-quality outcomes Stay hands-on with infrastructure and system architecture while guiding technical direction across the Abu Dhabi office Collaborate with leadership to align local priorities with Tavily s global strategy Drive best practices in system reliability, scalability, and performance Help shape the culture and growth of Tavily s new international office What You Bring Proven expertise in backend and distributed systems (Python, APIs, AWS, Kubernetes/Argo), with a strong focus on building scalable and reliable infrastructure Hands-on experience designing and deploying AI agents or RAG workflows in production environments Deep understanding of retrieval strategies (dense, sparse, hybrid), context optimization, and methods to reduce hallucinations Familiarity with modern agent frameworks such as LangChain, LangGraph, LlamaIndex, or equivalent in-house systems Demonstrated ability to design, own, and evolve complex system architectures Track record of mentoring and leading multidisciplinary technical teams, setting direction and driving execution Experience building and operating real-time, low-latency, large-scale systems Strong background with databases such as Snowflake, MongoDB, and Redis Practical experience with cloud-native architectures on AWS, from design to deployment Comfortable thriving in fast-paced, high-ownership startup environments
