Job description – Support Patient Care Specialist
Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Clinical Support Associate to join our team. In this role, you will provide high-quality patient care, supporting our nursing staff in delivering exceptional patient experiences.
Key Responsibilities:
• Participate in upholding and promoting our healthcare organization’s vision and culture.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant policies, procedures, and regulations.
• Contribute to maintaining international accreditation standards by participating in the International Accreditation Programme.
• Assist registered nurses in performing basic duties aligned with facility, MOH, JCI, FDON policies, procedures, and standards.
• Maintain a safe, clean environment using approved infection control practices.
• Act as a chaperone for patients as required, preserving their dignity.
• Assist nurses in turning, moving, or transporting patients on a stretcher or wheelchair.
• Tidy rooms, reporting any unsafe situations to the team leader.
• Assist with meal tray delivery and return, noting fluids taken and informing the assigned RN.
• Assist patients unable to feed themselves.
Additional Responsibilities:
• Weigh ambulatory patients.
• Clean up after procedures, treating used instruments according to standard precautions.
• Check and stock supply rooms as designated by the team leader.
• Assist with maintaining a clean, safe environment.
• Demonstrate sensitivity to patients’ comfort and privacy, expressing interest in their progress.
• Utilize and ensure maintenance of equipment and instruments, reporting any damages or malfunctioning to the Bio-Medical department and nurse-in-charge immediately.
• Undertake a range of clinical support functions, including preparing and stocking clinical areas according to protocols.
• Accompany patients for x-ray procedures, ECG, CT Scan.
• Accompany physicians during physical examinations.
• Participate in nursing continuous quality improvement initiatives, in-service education programs, unit meetings, and committee functions assigned by the nurse-in-charge.
• Initiate emergency, safety practices, and fire safety measures as necessary.
• Report all incidents through agreed channels and chain of command, ensuring Incident reports are completed, submitted to the nurse-in-charge, and immediate action is taken.
