Job description – Senior Accountant – Retail
About the Role:
We are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to become a key part of our finance team. This role involves overseeing essential accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and contributing to strategic financial planning. You will collaborate directly with senior leadership to provide valuable insights that guide important business decisions and help drive growth.
Key Responsibilities:
• Oversee and manage the financial operations specific to retail and trading activities
• Maintain and reconcile accounts payable/receivable, inventory costing, and vendor balances
• Lead month-end and year-end closing procedures with focus on sales, inventory, and COGS
• Monitor and ensure accurate recording of purchase orders, goods received, and sales transactions
• Conduct regular financial analysis to identify trends in product performance and margins
• Assist in preparing VAT filings and liaise with tax advisors for compliance
• Coordinate with procurement, logistics, and sales departments to align financial reporting
• Support audits and implement strong internal controls within retail operations
• Supervise junior accountants with a focus on retail-specific transactions
• Prepare and present financial reports to management, highlighting areas for optimization
Requirements:
• MBA in Finance (required)
• 8-15 years of experience in accounting or financial analysis.
• Deep understanding of inventory accounting, sales cycle, and vendor management
• Proficient in ERP/accounting systems such as SAP, ZOHO, or retail POS integrations
• Familiarity with UAE tax laws, especially VAT compliance
• Strong analytical and time management skills
