Key Duties
The Payroll Manager is responsible for overseeing payroll operations and ensuring compliance with institutional, state, and federal requirements. This position involves a blend of technical oversight, customer service, and leadership. Key responsibilities include:
- 
Supervising payroll processing activities and ensuring deadlines are consistently met.
 - 
Creating payroll schedules and reviewing reports for accuracy.
 - 
Resolving payroll errors and approving adjustments such as emergency checks, leave cashouts, and retroactive pay.
 - 
Ensuring accurate and timely submission of biweekly ACH files.
 - 
Managing departmental communication and responding to payroll-related inquiries from staff and faculty.
 - 
Collaborating with internal stakeholders and external agencies to ensure compliance.
 - 
Leading and guiding payroll team members while supporting process improvements.
 - 
Keeping documentation, policies, and training materials up to date.
 - 
Supporting departmental projects and initiatives as assigned.
 
Requirements
This role requires both technical expertise and leadership skills. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to analyze payroll issues, communicate effectively, and manage a team in a complex organizational setting.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or related field.
 - 
Experience: Minimum of six years in payroll, accounting, or related financial operations. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
 - 
Preferred Qualifications:
- 
Deep knowledge of payroll rules, tax laws, and HR policies related to payroll.
 - 
Experience with payroll systems, accounting entries, and compliance reporting.
 - 
Strong interpersonal and communication skills for working with diverse stakeholders.
 - 
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and ability to analyze data effectively.
