Role Summary

As a Life Guard, your primary mission is to ensure the safety and well-being of our guests within the recreation facilities. You will maintain a vigilant watch over the swimming area, responding instantly to emergencies while upholding the high service standards of the Le Méridien brand. Beyond safety, you play a key role in creating a relaxing, clean, and welcoming atmosphere for our global travelers.


Key Responsibilities

Safety & Rescue Operations

  • Vigilance: Constantly observe the swimming area for dangerous conditions, unsafe activities, or swimmers in distress.

  • Emergency Response: Execute appropriate rescue techniques immediately when needed and provide first aid assistance until emergency medical services arrive.

  • Risk Management: Identify situations where guests may not be able to safely participate in activities and proactively inform management.

  • Regulatory Compliance: Promote and enforce all rules and regulations of the recreation facility to ensure a secure environment.

Guest Service & Atmosphere

  • Hospitality: Welcome and acknowledge all guests according to company standards, anticipating their needs and assisting individuals with disabilities.

  • Environment: Promote a fun, relaxing, and chic atmosphere; manage towel inventory (obtaining, folding, and stacking) per procedures.

  • Facility Upkeep: Maintain the aesthetics and safety of the pool area by washing, mopping, and cleaning the pool deck.

Professional Standards

  • Communication: Use clear and professional language when interacting with guests and colleagues; treat all co-workers with dignity and respect.

  • Reporting: Document and report any accidents, injuries, or unsafe work conditions to the manager immediately.

  • Integrity: Adhere to company policies, maintain confidentiality of proprietary information, and protect company assets.


Qualifications & Requirements

Physical Capabilities

  • Agility: Ability to move at the speed required for emergency response (running, jogging, or swimming).

  • Endurance: Comfortable standing, sitting, or walking for extended periods or an entire shift.

  • Manual Dexterity: Capable of grasping and manipulating objects of varying sizes, requiring fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination.

  • Strength: Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds independently and over 75 pounds with assistance.

  • Mobility: Able to navigate sloping, uneven, or slippery surfaces, as well as ladders and stairs.

Technical & Professional Skills

  • Certifications: Must complete and maintain all required safety training and lifeguard certifications.

  • Visual Inspection: Ability to visually inspect tools and equipment to identify potential defects.

  • Language: Professional fluency in English is required to communicate effectively in a global hospitality setting.
