Job description – DCS Engineer
System Implementation & Validation Carry out system configuration, FAT, SAT, and overall validation for substation automation systems.
Supervise site installation, commissioning, and system integration of DCS/SCS, RTUs, and communication systems.
Perform troubleshooting and rectification of system issues at site.
Cybersecurity & Communication Implement cybersecurity measures for substation automation and control systems in compliance with utility requirements.
Configure communication protocols including IEC61850, MODBUS, IEC101/104, T103, SNTP, and networking schemes (PRP/HSR/RSTP).
Project Coordination & Customer Interface Work closely with utilities, EPC contractors, and industrial customers for project execution.
Coordinate with regional teams, vendors, and clients to meet technical and project deliverables.
Support documentation, reports, and close-out submissions for projects.
Compliance & Approvals Ensure adherence to Kahramaa, Qatar Energy, and other Gulf utility standards where applicable.
Support technical approvals, inspections, and audits. Education & Experience Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in substation automation system projects, RTUs, cybersecurity, and DCS/SCS systems of electrical power substations.
Technical Skills Hands-on experience with GE DS Agile, PACiS, GPG, G500, D400 & D200 RTU solutions. Strong knowledge of IEC61850-based substation automation, protection relays, BCUs, BCPUs, AVR, tariff meters, and HV/EHV systems. Proficiency in configuring and testing communication protocols (IEC61850, MODBUS, IEC101/104, T103, SNTP). Knowledge of modern cybersecurity solutions in substation automation.Industry & Regional Knowledge Familiarity with utilities and industrial customers in the Middle East; Kahramaa, Qatar Energy, and Q-Companies approvals preferred. Understanding of business practices and technical standards in Gulf countries (Qatar, UAE).Other Skills Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, and analytical skills. Excellent communication skills in English (Arabic is an advantage). Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). Willingness to travel across the region
