Job Purpose

As a Data Science Engineer, you will be at the forefront of leveraging advanced analytics and engineering solutions to drive data-driven insights within our organization. This role involves a combination of data engineering, machine learning, and software development skills. You will work collaboratively with data scientists, software engineers, and other stakeholders to design, implement, and deploy data science solutions that address complex business challenges.

Key Result Responsibilities

• Data Exploration and Preprocessing: Conduct exploratory data analysis to understand data characteristics and identify patterns. Collaborate with data engineers to clean and preprocess data for machine learning applications.

• Feature Engineering: Contribute to the development of robust feature engineering pipelines to extract relevant information from raw data. Work closely with data scientists to identify and create features that optimize model performance.

• Model Development and Deployment: Implement machine learning models, managing the training, validation, and testing phases. Partner with software developers to deploy these models into live production environments.

• Data Pipeline Development: Design and build reliable data pipelines for efficient extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes. Ensure the scalability and reliability of data pipelines to handle large volumes of data.

• Programming and Software Development: Utilize programming languages such as Python or Java for core data science and engineering tasks. Collaborate with software engineering teams to seamlessly integrate data science solutions into broader software systems.

• Optimization and Performance Tuning: Optimize algorithms and models for performance, scalability, and efficiency. Implement continuous monitoring and improvement processes for all deployed models.

• Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including data scientists, analysts, and engineers, to understand business requirements and develop impactful solutions. Participate actively in agile development processes, contributing to sprint planning and reviews.

• Documentation: Document code, data pipelines, and model implementations for reproducibility and team knowledge sharing. Maintain clear documentation on overall system architecture and design.

Qualifications & Requirements

Academic & Background

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant field such as Computer Science, Data Science, or a related technical discipline.

Technical Skills & Experience

• Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, Java, or similar.

• Solid understanding of machine learning concepts, algorithms, and statistical modeling.

• Experience with data processing frameworks (e.g., Apache Spark) and core machine learning libraries (e.g., scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch).

• Proficiency in designing, building, and optimizing data pipelines.

• Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git) and collaborative development practices.
