Job description – Assistant Manager- Actuarial
HNB Assurance PLC, a leading force in the Sri Lankan insurance industry, is seeking a high-caliber professional to join our actuarial team as Assistant Manager- Actuarial. Based in our Colombo office, this role is designed for an analytical specialist who is ready to influence strategic business decisions through sophisticated financial modeling. Key Responsibilities

Perform data analysis, statistical modeling, and financial forecasting to support business decision-making.

Contribute to IFRS 17 implementation and operate within a live reporting environment.

Conduct experience studies, including documentation and trend monitoring.

Carry out product pricing and profitability studies.

Support policy liability valuation and regulatory reporting under RBC framework.

Prepare detailed actuarial reports and present findings to senior management.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive strategic initiatives and enhance business performance.

Perform other actuarial-related duties as assigned by management.
Experience & Qualifications

Degree in Mathematics, Statistics, or Actuarial Science from a recognized university.

Minimum of two passes in actuarial examinations from a recognized actuarial body (progress toward Associate qualification preferred).

At least 3 years of experience in an actuarial role within a reputable organization.

Hands-on experience in policy liability valuation, experience studies, product pricing, and RBC reporting.

Strong IT proficiency, particularly in R and Python.

Experience with actuarial modeling software such as Prophet.

Sound understanding of the Actuarial Control Cycle (ACC) and industry best practices.

Strong analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills.

High attention to detail and accuracy.
