Role Summary

The Area Controller will lead a Regional Financial Controllership team, ensuring high-quality financial management, accounting, tax, and statutory compliance across their assigned sub-region. This role requires a proactive leader capable of working within a global network of colleagues and partners to exceed stakeholder expectations.


Key Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership: Manage, train, and motivate a dedicated team of 7–10 financial professionals.

  • Compliance & Stewardship: Review financial documents to ensure adherence to both group and local statutory requirements.

  • Control Environment: Design, implement, and evidence robust internal and external compliance controls.

  • Financial Oversight: Supervise the month-end close process, ensuring all reconciliation obligations and critical deadlines are met.

  • Reviews: Conduct regular balance sheet and cost reviews to maintain financial integrity.

  • Stakeholder Management: Lead primary relationships with Regional Tax, Internal Audit, Treasury, General Accounting, and external outsource partners.


Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Qualifications: Qualified Accountant (CIMA/ACCA/CA) or a degree in Accounting/Finance with 7–9 years of relevant experience. Candidates with part-qualifications and proven experience will also be considered.

  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Oracle, HFM, and Blackline accounting systems.

  • Financial Expertise: Strong background in IFRS and the preparation of statutory accounts across multiple entities within a large organization.

  • Leadership: Experience leading cross-geography relationships and working with senior stakeholders under tight deadlines.

  • Analytical Ability: Advanced Excel skills with the ability to manage complex spreadsheets for accurate reporting.

  • Process Orientation: Ability to design and operate robust reporting frameworks in a fast-changing environment.

  • Communication: Effective oral and written communication skills tailored to a global audience.
