We are looking for a Facilities Technical Assistant (Electrical) to support the daily electrical operations and maintenance within our facilities in Katunayake. This position is essential to ensure the uninterrupted functioning of electrical systems, equipment, and infrastructure across the site. You will be expected to carry out routine checks, perform minor installations and repairs, respond to faults promptly, and assist in facility-wide preventive maintenance.

Position Summary:
As a Facilities Technical Assistant with an electrical focus, your primary role will be to provide support in maintaining and troubleshooting electrical systems across the facility. These include lighting, power distribution, control systems, motors, and backup generators. You will also assist with regular inspections, safety checks, and small-scale installations.
You will work under the supervision of a Facilities Engineer and collaborate with other maintenance staff. The work involves both routine tasks and urgent repairs, requiring flexibility and a strong sense of responsibility.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Electrical Maintenance and Repairs
- Carry out routine inspections of electrical systems, panels, and distribution boards.
- Diagnose and repair faults in lighting systems, wiring, switches, sockets, and machinery-related electrical components.
- Replace faulty components such as fuses, relays, contactors, and sensors under supervision.
2. Preventive Maintenance
- Assist in executing the preventive maintenance schedule for electrical equipment.
- Keep records of maintenance work performed, issues detected, and parts replaced.

3. Installation Support
- Support the setup of new equipment including wiring, cabling, and panel connections.
- Install or relocate electrical outlets and lighting as required.
- Run basic testing on new electrical connections for continuity and load tolerance.
4. Emergency Response
- Respond promptly to electrical faults and system breakdowns reported within the facility.
- Safely isolate power sources and troubleshoot problems without delaying operations unnecessarily.
- Communicate clearly with supervisors and safety officers during emergency repairs.
5. Compliance and Safety
- Ensure that all electrical tasks are carried out in compliance with industry standards and workplace safety regulations.

6. Coordination and Communication

Required Qualifications:
- NVQ Level 4 or equivalent certification in Electrical Installation or Electrical Maintenance.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar role within an industrial or commercial facility.
- Sound understanding of basic electrical systems including single-phase and three-phase setups.
- Ability to read simple wiring diagrams and electrical schematics.
- Basic familiarity with electrical testing tools (e.g., multimeter, insulation tester).
- Knowledge of workplace safety procedures related to electrical work.
