Job description – Fabrication Foreman
Key Responsibilities:
• Supervise day-to-day fabrication activities and assign tasks to workers based on project requirements.
• Interpret fabrication drawings, blueprints, and technical instructions to guide workshop teams.
• Monitor welding, cutting, and assembly of steel and metal components to ensure precision and compliance with safety and quality standards.
• Ensure that all work is completed within established timelines and budget constraints.
• Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and other departments to ensure smooth workflow and resource availability.
• Inspect completed work and implement corrective actions when required.
• Maintain high standards of housekeeping and organization in the workshop.
• Enforce company safety policies and ensure the team adheres to all health and safety regulations.
• Monitor usage of tools, machinery, and materials, and report maintenance or procurement needs.
• Train and mentor junior fabricators and new hires.
• Prepare daily progress reports and maintain records of labor and material usage.
Qualifications & Requirements:
• Diploma or ITI certification in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in metal/steel fabrication, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
• Strong knowledge of fabrication processes including welding (MIG/TIG/ARC), cutting (laser, plasma, waterjet), bending, and assembly.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and fabrication sketches.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• Knowledge of workshop safety protocols and standards.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
