Job Overview
FPA Sri Lanka is seeking a qualified and experienced Consultant – Research Coordinator for an impactful 3-month research project. The study focuses on exploring awareness, help-seeking behaviors, and barriers to medical services for breast and cervical cancer among female factory workers within the Wathupitiwala Export Processing Zone. This assignment is ideal for professionals with a strong background in reproductive health research and field coordination within the NGO and public health sectors.

The organization has been at the forefront of providing sexual and reproductive health and family planning services in Sri Lanka, working extensively across public health research, advocacy, and community engagement.
Research Project Overview
The consultancy directly supports a research study titled: “Awareness, Help-Seeking and Barriers to Medical Services for Breast and Cervical Cancer: A Cross-Sectional Study Among Female Factory Workers in the Wathupitiwala Export Processing Zone.” Funded by IPPF London, the project aims to improve healthcare accessibility, awareness, and service utilization for vulnerable female worker communities.
Key Responsibilities

Field Coordination: Coordinate participant recruitment, manage field logistics, and oversee survey administration activities within the Wathupitiwala Export Processing Zone.

Qualitative Research: Conduct key informant interviews (KIIs) and oversee accurate interview transcriptions.

Project Management: Track implementation progress according to project timelines to ensure deliverables are met on schedule.

Compliance & Safeguarding: Maintain strict ethical compliance, data quality standards, and safeguarding procedures during all field activities.

Stakeholder Relations: Liaise effectively with factory management, government officials, NGOs, and healthcare stakeholders.

Reporting: Prepare regular progress reports and maintain comprehensive project documentation.
Qualifications & Experience

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Social Sciences, Development Studies, or a related field.

Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience managing or coordinating research projects, public health, or social intervention initiatives.

Research Skills: Prior experience in field research data collection is required; familiarity with qualitative methods (KIIs, FGDs, and one-to-one interviews) is essential.

Domain Knowledge: Understanding of gender, rights issues, and gender-based violence. Prior experience in Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) research is a distinct advantage.

Operational Skills: Ability to develop work plans, manage project budgets, and balance multiple deadlines.

Languages: Excellent communication skills with fluency in English and Sinhala. Proficiency in Tamil is an added advantage.

Remuneration: Negotiable salary; transportation and related field expenses will be covered by FPA Sri Lanka.
