Role Summary

The Assistant Engineering Manager is a vital leadership role responsible for the operational integrity and safety of the hotel’s physical assets. You will oversee technical maintenance, coordinate complex life safety systems, and lead a high-performing engineering team. This position ensures that every aspect of the facility—from guest room repairs to major mechanical systems—functions perfectly to support our luxury service delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Oversight & Maintenance

• System Maintenance: Install, maintain, and perform preventative maintenance on tools, appliances, and mechanical equipment.

• Calibration & Control: Calibrate all controls, gauges, and meters; identify and operate all critical shut-off valves.

• Safety Systems: Conduct essential life safety checks, including fire-pump and generator run tests, and inspect sprinkler and alarm systems.

• Asset Management: Order and stock parts, maintain inventory logs, and manage purchase orders to ensure operational readiness.

Leadership & Team Management

• Team Support: Assist management in hiring, training, scheduling, and coaching employees to reach common goals.

• Performance Management: Participate in evaluating, counseling, and disciplining staff while maintaining high team motivation.

• Safety Culture: Enforce company security policies, report maintenance hazards, and ensure all team members complete required safety certifications.

Guest Experience & Operational Excellence

• Service Delivery: Respond promptly to guest repair requests with professional language and a focus on exceeding service expectations.

• Operational Efficiency: Identify and implement new ways to increase productivity, safety, and cost-savings across the engineering department.

• Professionalism: Maintain a clean, professional appearance and uphold the confidentiality of proprietary company information.

Qualifications & Skills

Experience & Education

• Education: Technical, Trade, or Vocational School Degree is preferred.

• Work Experience: At least 2 years of related experience in engineering or facilities maintenance.

• Supervisory Experience: At least 2 years of experience in a leadership or supervisory role.

Physical & Technical Requirements

• Physical Agility: Ability to stand, sit, or walk for extended periods; move up and down stairs/ramps; and bend, twist, and stoop as needed.

• Lifting: Capability to lift, push, and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance.

• Technical Proficiency: Ability to enter and locate work-related information using computers and operate power lifts.
