- Review architectural and structural drawings and flag inconsistencies before implementation.
- Prepare detailed work schedules and allocate tasks to subcontractors and labor teams accordingly.
- Attend on-site coordination meetings and provide timely feedback on progress and bottlenecks.
3. Quality Control
- Ensure that construction materials used on-site conform to approved specifications.
- Check reinforcement work, formwork, concrete mixes, and curing procedures for compliance with standards.
- Maintain proper records of tests, approvals, and site inspections.
4. Documentation
- Maintain daily site logs covering manpower, work status, inspections, and material consumption.
- Submit regular reports to the head office detailing work progress, delays, and site issues.
- Assist in preparing bills of quantities and verification of contractor invoices.
5. Safety and Compliance
- Monitor compliance with health and safety procedures on-site.
- Work with safety officers to ensure hazard-free working conditions.
- Ensure all construction activities meet legal and environmental regulations.
6. Cost Monitoring
- Identify variations and assist in estimating the impact on project cost and timeline.
- Keep track of material usage and wastage, aiming to minimize unnecessary expenditure.
Required Qualifications

- Minimum 2–4 years of experience in civil construction or infrastructure projects.
- Sound knowledge of civil construction techniques, materials, and structural standards.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, structural layouts, and service plans.
- Familiarity with construction tools and software such as AutoCAD, MS Project, or similar.

- Attention to detail, especially in quality checks and material assessment.
- Able to work independently under pressure while adhering to deadlines.
- Willingness to stay late or work weekends if required for critical project phases.
- Understanding of soil testing, RCC design principles, and local building codes.
- Previous experience working on medium to large-scale building projects.
Work Conditions
- The role is based in Kandy, with regular travel to project sites within the region.
- Standard work hours are 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday to Saturday. Extra hours may be required to meet project deadlines.
- You will be required to wear safety gear at all times while on site.
- Office space and equipment will be provided for planning and documentation tasks.
- Must be comfortable working in outdoor conditions, including in varying weather.
What We Expect From You
- You arrive on-site prepared, having reviewed plans and anticipated potential issues.
- You are disciplined in your documentation—site diaries, inspection records, and reports are accurate and up to date.
- You treat safety as a non-negotiable part of the job and ensure others follow the same.
- You don’t wait for someone to point out mistakes—you proactively check the work, test materials, and fix issues early.
- You are dependable. When you commit to a deadline, you follow through, or communicate early if changes are needed.
What You Can Expect From Us
- A team that supports practical, no-nonsense engineering—clear expectations, structured processes, and timely decisions.
- An organized workflow where engineers are not burdened with unnecessary bureaucracy or guesswork.
- Guidance and feedback when needed, but also the trust to manage your area of responsibility.
- A fair, professional environment that values long-term consistency over short-term noise.
- Opportunities to grow into project leadership or senior engineering roles based on your performance.
Who Should Apply
This job is ideal for:
- Civil engineers who are early in their careers but have already been exposed to the realities of construction sites.
- Individuals looking for a hands-on, structured role where the focus is on reliable execution—not theory.
- Engineers based in or around Kandy, or those willing to relocate and commit to full-time site involvement.
- Professionals who prefer clear roles, steady projects, and practical engineering challenges.
Avoid applying if:
- You are looking for a design-only role with no site responsibility.

- You expect remote or office-based work without field engagement.
Application Process
To apply, please submit the following documents:
- Your updated CV, including education, work experience, and key project involvement.
- A brief cover letter (maximum 1 page) explaining your interest in the role and how your past experience aligns with it.
- Contact details for at least two professional references (preferably previous supervisors).
- If available, attach examples of work logs, reports, or technical documents you’ve created.
Shortlisted candidates will be contacted for an initial interview. A site visit or practical assessment may be part of the evaluation.
Final Word
Civil engineering is a practical discipline. It demands precision, patience, and planning. If you’re someone who takes responsibility seriously, who believes that a well-built structure reflects the care of those who managed it, and who is ready to be present and accountable at the site—this job is for you.
We don’t want someone perfect. We want someone committed, detail-conscious, and reliable. If that sounds like you, we look forward to your application.
